About Us

Our Goal ~ Empowering aspiring Overlanders to embrace their own adventure in Africa.

LUKAS

I grew up in a family that spent a lot of time in the outdoors. Sleeping under the starts and setting up camp without signal is where I feel most at peace.

Land Cruisers are old-fashioned and uncomfortable, but few worth-while places have been discovered in comfort.

BIANCA

Spending endless family fishing trips next to open waters and chasing the perfect image since I could only “kind-of” walk has made me most comfortable under a bush sky, be that with the sun or the moon…

There’s a lot more than just vehicles in Overlanding. Getting there is just part of the fun. Making the most of the time there is what fills my soul, wherever “there” is, as long as I’m surrounded by nature.

Our story

Lighting a fire after an adventure-filled day in the African bush is a feeling more than an action. Feelings like these are what inspired us. From a young age we both grew up with the privilege experiencing feelings like these. And as we’ve grown older, making these experiences possible for others has become our passion.

Saying that it started at a specific moment is near impossible as we’ve both had many adventures. But one thing is certain, when our adventures starting including each other their meaning became deeper, like when you see an Elephant arriving at a waterhole. The water is no longer just a reflective liquid mass, it becomes a source of relief and life.

We’ve embarked on a number of month-long trips, living in and around our vehicle as we traveled through areas where a set of wheel tracks is the only form of civilization. Through these adventures we’ve learned many lessons, some the “not too hard” way, but not all. We learned that the skills and information that we’ve gathered could be shared in order to help others who also wish to embark on their own solo travels through Southern Africa. And this is why we started Joubert Overland

Our vision

Providing the starting point of vehicle-based adventures into the far-out places where the stars are clear and the horizon ever-changing.

Some of the lessons we’ve learned…

Getting caught out happens easier than you think.

You can’t always prevent everything.

There is always a solution.

No matter how peaceful, there are teeth in the water.
